This City and Guilds Level 3 (18th edition) Requirements for Electrical Installations (2382) qualification is primarily aimed at practising electricians with relevant experience and other allied professionals e.g. surveyors, consultants and other trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations.

This qualification ensures that you are up-to-date with the latest industry regulation on wiring and the safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems. It covers the 18th edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations, which come into force in January 2019. These regulations are recognised by the British Standards Institute as a British Standard (BS7671).

If you’re a practising electrician, you must comply with the regulations for electrical work, this qualification is designed to provide those seeking progression in their career with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the Electrotechnical industry.

What does the Level 3 18th edition qualification cover?

The IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) are the definitive standards for the electrical industry in respect of safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems. They set requirements and operating criteria for the UK and correspond to EC standards and are recognised by the British Standards Institute as a British Standard (BS 7671). It is intended to ensure that individuals are conversant with the format, content and application of the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: 2018.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. As a general rule candidates should have knowledge of electrical installation and electrical science.

The course is primarily aimed at practicing electricians and domestic installers, however it is also very popular with allied professionals such as contracts managers, designers, electrical engineers, consultants, surveyors, and other related trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of the IEE Wiring Regulations. All candidates must be over 16 years old.

What does the Level 3 18th edition course consist of?

Our course is home study (your own pace). The course package includes study material and up-to-date exam simulators that will help you achieve the mark you are after.

With our course it will be up to you when you feel confident to attend the online exam at our centre, we recommend up to 40 hours of home study and practise prior to attending.

You are required to purchase a copy of the Blue version of the IET Wiring Regulations BS7671:2018 before attending the course. We do offer an add-on option if you wish to purchase the book also, please note that if you choose this option you will also need to pay for postage and handling.

The 2 hour online multiple choice exam is will be invigilated at our centre in Isleworth, on either Tuesday or Thursday, (bookings are to be made one week prior to attending).

You will be able to take your blue 18th Edition Regulations book (BS 7671) into the exam with you and refer to it if need be. The timing of the exam means that you will have on average 2 minutes per question so a good overall knowledge of the 18th Edition regs plus a thorough understanding of the book is a must.

Please note that you must bring photographic ID such as passport or driving license with you in order to sit the assessment on this course

Using the Underground:

Take the Picadilly Line, Westbound towards Heathrow, disembark at Hounslow East, Walk towards the Hounslow Bus Station bus stop G and catch either H37 (Towards Richmond) or 117 (Towards West Middlesex Hospital), get off at bus stop AA St. John the Baptist.

Take the District Line, Westbound towards Richmond, disembark at Richmond Station, Walk towards the Bus Stop D and catch the H37 (Towards Hounslow), get off at bus stop BB Grainger Road.

Using the Main Line:

South West Trains from Waterloo; Trains heading towards Hounslow, Weybridge and Addleston all trains must be VIA Brentford (Usually Platforms 16,17,18). Disembark at Isleworth Train Station, and walk down St.Johns Road towards the centre.

Catching the Bus:

Buses close to the centre are the H37 (Hounslow-Richmond) and 117 (Staines- West Middlesex Hospital) At Bus Stop AA and BB.

Buses near by are; 237 (White City (London Westfield) – Hounslow Heath), E8 (Ealing Broadway – Hounslow Bells corner) and 235 (North Brentford Quarter – Sunbury Village), At Bus Stop F (Isleworth Train Station).
