The Safety Passport Alliance (SPA) – Core Health & Safety Course delivered in our London training centre in Isleworth, This course is accredited by the Safety Pass Alliance (SPA) and covers the basic principles and areas of responsibility for health and safety and the environment.
This course allows applicants to apply through various card schemes, including the ECS and JIB, among others.

The Core H&S Course is covered in one full day and provides the following benefits:
- Progress further onto sector-specific training with ease having understood the general principles of health and safety in the workplace.
- Provides the understanding of identifying hazards, assessing the risks and ultimately minimising accidents.
- Provides an understanding of the effects of inadequate health and safety procedures and practices on individuals and employers.
The examination for this Health and Safety course is conducted on the day. Should you not pass this exam, further opportunities will be provided for you to undertake a further assessment. Conditions Apply*
Who should attend?
This course is suitable for people working or planning to gain employment in, a variety of industries and sectors including the Electrical and Construction Industries.
What does the course cover?
This course is theory-based and consists of one full day in a classroom environment. You will cover the following 6 core modules:
- Organising for Safety
This module covers the responsibilities put in place by law, of both employers and employees, risk assessments, hazards and their accompanying control methods and vulnerable workers.
- The Workplace
The focus of this module is safety specific to the workplace such as working at height, asbestos and confined spaces. It considers what makes a place safe to work and how individual behaviours can impact the effectiveness of safety measures.
- Tools, Plant and Machinery
The equipment used in the workplace, powered and non-powered, can cause many risks, some of which are caused by the energy that is created during use. Delegates will learn about the risks associated with the various tools and machinery.
This module focuses on common factors affecting health in the workplace and includes hazardous substances, manual handling, hygiene and the effects of noise and stress.
Delegates will learn about the need for stringent procedures in the workplace and their benefits. This will include first-aid arrangements and local emergency procedures.
- The Environment
This will cover environmental requirements on employers and employees (both current and future), pollution and waste control, including safe storing and marking, and also emergency planning.
