The City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exams at the Great Britain Construction Training Test Centre are available in English only.

Great Britain Construction Training takes no responsibility for any delay caused by external institutions and companies

Great Britain Construction Training takes no responsibility for any delay caused by incorrect, insufficient, false or misleading information and contact details supplied by candidates or customers.

Great Britain Construction Training is not responsible for any City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam failures.

A full refund is NOT due if the Candidate:

  • Has provided information which is incorrect, insufficient, false or misleading

  • Fails a City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam

  • Decides to cancel his/her booking within 24 hours of purchase. In this circumstance a cancellation fee of £80.00 applies. The Candidate will be refunded the remainder of the City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam cost

  • Decides to cancel his/her booking after 24 hours of purchase. In this circumstance a cancellation fee of £100.00 will apply to cover the expenses incurred by Great Britain Construction Training in booking the City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam

  • Fails to attend their booked Exam and have not provided prior notice to the Test Centre. We will however offer the Candidate the opportunity to rebook at the specific City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam cost

A rescheduling fee of £30.00 will apply to all Candidates who wish to change the date of their City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam. The fee of £30.00 will apply each time a City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam is rescheduled.

A minimum of 24 hours notice must be provided to Great Britain Construction Training by the Candidate when rescheduling any City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam. Failure to do so will result in the Candidate being liable for the full Exam cost. Booking dates/times for any rescheduled Exams are subject to availability.

When rescheduling any City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam, the Candidate is liable to pay the difference in cost (if applicable).

Candidates who reschedule or cancel their City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam due to illness must have a Doctor's Certificate that covers the candidate for the actual date of the Exam.

No discounts or special rates are available to Candidates who have already booked one City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam (or alternative Test/Assessment with Great Britain Construction Training) and would like to book again or to organise a re-sit.

Should the Candidate wish to rebook, the specific City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam cost will apply.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam.

The Candidate must bring one form of ID in good condition.

Acceptable Forms of Photo ID

  • Valid Passport

  • Valid UK Drivers Licence (not foreign drivers licence)

  • Valid CIS Card

Great Britain Construction Training reserves the right to withhold the results from the Candidate if they fail to bring sufficient ID or if the ID that is provided is of poor quality. In this instance Great Britain Construction Training would hand over the Candidate's results when sufficient ID has been provided.

Great Britain Construction Training are not responsible if the Candidate is unable to sit or complete the City & Guilds (17th Edition) Examdue to technical difficulties. In the rare occasion that this does occur we would endeavour to reschedule the City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam at the Candidates convenience.

In an extreme or unforeseen situation we hold the right to cancel any City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam at any time without providing notice to the Candidate. In the rare occasion that this does occur we would endeavour to contact the Candidate as soon as possible and to reschedule City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam at their convenience.

City & Guilds (17th Edition) Exam requirements

This is an open book Exam and Candidates will be allowed to take the following permitted reference material into the Exam:

  • IEE Wiring Regulations BS 7671:2008

IEE Wiring Regulations books taken into Exams can contain the following:

  • Bookmarks (eg blank post-it notes or corners of pages folded)

  • Highlighting of text

  • The Corrigendum, issued by the IEE as a supplement to the wiring regulations in July 2008.

A copy of the Corrigendum can be viewed here.

IEE Wiring Regulations books taken into Exams cannot contain the following:

  • Sample Exam questions, answers or diagrams

  • Any writing in the regulations or accompanying written notes

  • Notes, diagrams or any content that may in anyway advantage the candidate in answering questions within the Exam.

If Great Britain Construction Training has any doubt over the suitability of content, the publication cannot be used and will be replaced with a 'clean' copy of the IEE Wiring Regulations BS 7671 2008.

Candidates will also require a non-programmable calculator.

Guided learning hours

A minimum of 30 guided learning hours is required before you can sit the Exam.

On the day of your Exam you will be required to sign a Declaration stating that you have undertaken the minimum guided learning hours.

It is the Candidate's responsibility to allocate a sufficient amount of guided learning hours when preparing for the Exam.
